TOTALITARIANISM IS HERE – JUST NOT WHERE YOU THINK
One of our greatest fears has come true. The Federal and State Bureaucracies have become so massive and powerful that they are no longer accountable to anyone but their own self-serving interests.
According to Statista, in 2022, the number of U.S. Federal Government (civilian) employees stood at approximately 2.87 million workers. Add to that another 19.23 million workers in the state and local governments in the United States.
The U.S. population was approximately 333.2 million in 2022. Our combined government bureaucracies employed 6.63% of the total population in the U.S. That is an astonishing 16.7% of the total labor force. One of every six workers in the U.S. are in a government position, with good pay and good benefits. In other words, every American taxpayer is paying for 1 out of every 6 workers – not including the military, which has its own bureaucracy as well.
The Left has infiltrated and now controls many of those bureaucracies. This is most certainly true in the Federal Government. Today, they have weaponized the DOJ and most government enforcement agencies. From the IRS targeting conservative groups during the Obama Administration, to the repeated indictments of President Trump.
It’s also obvious that bureaucrats operate with full impunity, considering not one single noteworthy bureaucrat has been indicted or convicted of any wrongdoing in the last twenty years. Americans are not blind to what is happening. It’s no coincidence trust in government has subsequently dropped to an all-time low.
With all the bureaucratic graft and corruption we have witnessed in the last 20 years, there is no room for trust. According to the Pew Research Institute, trust in government has dropped from 73% in 1958, to a jaw dropping low of 24% today.
Two decades ago, a small handful of Americans would have believed we would need a Congressional Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, yet that is exactly what we have today. Unfortunately, none of us believe Rep Jim Jordan and the rest of the Republican Congress will have the power to do anything meaningful to stop the abuses. “Contempt of Congress” is nothing more than a fancy catchphrase that is laughable to any high-level government bureaucrat. Can you think of a single bureaucrat who has been handcuffed and marched to prison for lying to Congress?
Since they are unaccountable, bureaucrats act autonomously, passing rules and regulations that affect us in unimaginable ways. The latest is the elimination of gas stoves, forcing Americans to use electric ranges and ovens. This, in spite of the fact that our current electrical grid is being pushed to its limits. In California, they have had rolling blackouts because of the excess demands on their electrical infrastructure. Our neighbors to the west have been told to charge their electric cars during the night for the same reason, yet the State continues to march toward an unsustainable demand on an already overtaxed power grid which they are not improving.
In conclusion, ask yourself one question. Which is worse, Democrat politicians pushing a Progressive agenda with totalitarian policies, or mammoth bureaucracies that enforce the same agenda and policies, even though those policies haven’t been codified into law by Congress.
Until the bureaucracies are reeled in, scaled back, and prevented from exercising powers that are beyond their Constitutional authority, we are heading down a road toward Banana Republic status.
And because enough is never enough for the Left, they keep pushing for more and more government and the continued growth of the bureaucracy to gain totalitarian control over all of us.
If we are not careful, the same thing will happen here in our community. We must work to stop this locally or one day, we will wonder why we are not allowed to have…

Well said. Good job.
To peel a few more layers off the Bureaucrat onion, they also clandestinely manage to route taxpayer funding to NGO’s, PAC’s and foreign military to perform acts which are illegal for any US gov’t agency to perform. Examples are :
1. Distributing foreigners who illegally enter the country to every county in the US and providing temporary housing. (This is human trafficking)
2, FBI and US Military hiring the British to do aerial surveillance over the US that is illegal for them to do themselves. (Aerial records are public information, easy to find)
3. Political Action Committees are receiving misdirected taxpayer funds to support partisan efforts.
I agree with everything except men possibly like Jim Jordan have been helpful in the past. I don’t know Jim Jordan’s heart, so I can’t use him as an example, but I believe politicians are limited in what they can do, because what they are up against individually is a machine. But if men and women in positions like Jim Jordan’s are called by God (and some are) they can, and have, done much, sometimes behind the scenes.
